Finnish President Alexander Stubb has embarked on a two-day state visit to Luxembourg to bolster bilateral relations and discuss European cooperation. The visit commenced with a ceremonial welcome at the Grand Ducal Palace, where President Stubb and his wife were greeted with military honors before meeting Luxembourg’s Grand Ducal couple. The Finnish couple also paid tribute to fallen service members by laying a wreath at the eternal flame.
During the visit, President Stubb is set to engage with key Luxembourg officials, including President of the Chamber of Deputies Claude Wiseler, Prime Minister Luc Frieden, and Deputy Prime Minister Xavier Bettel. The discussions are anticipated to focus on enhancing bilateral ties and addressing current European affairs, reflecting a shared commitment to regional cooperation.
The visit underscores the countries’ collaborative efforts within European institutions, as highlighted by scheduled tours of the European Investment Bank and the European Court of Justice. These engagements aim to reinforce the partnership between Finland and Luxembourg on broader European issues.
On the second day of the visit, President Stubb will explore academic and economic collaborations by visiting the University of Luxembourg’s Belval campus and the SES headquarters in Betzdorf. These visits aim to emphasize the importance of educational and economic exchanges in strengthening the relationship between the two nations.
