Koray Kavukcuoglu, the current chief technology officer of DeepMind, will take over as the leader of the organization, holding the title of senior vice-president. In addition to his new roles, he will continue to serve as chief executive of Isomorphic Labs, a drug-discovery company spun out from DeepMind.
The restructuring occurs amidst the departure of several senior engineers from Google’s AI division. Notably, Jeff Dean and Sanjay Ghemawat are leaving to start a new venture called Discovery Loop, focusing on machine learning, science, and engineering research.
