Starting on July 28, temperatures are expected to rise dramatically, with the sweltering conditions likely to persist into the early days of August. This latest heatwave will first hit southwestern France before expanding across much of the nation, bringing with it potentially dangerous temperatures.
In France, meteorologists predict that some areas could experience scorching highs of 40 to 41 degrees Celsius. Many other regions are likely to see temperatures soaring between 35 and 38 degrees Celsius. The nights will offer little respite, as temperatures are anticipated to linger above 20 degrees Celsius in several locations, compounding the discomfort.
Meanwhile, Luxembourg is also preparing for a significant spike in temperatures following a relatively cooler start to the week. By Wednesday and Thursday, the thermometer is expected to rise to between 33 and 36 degrees Celsius under predominantly clear skies, marking a sharp increase compared to earlier in the week.
Experts warn that this prolonged heatwave could exacerbate existing drought conditions and elevate the risk of wildfires across the region. The combination of high temperatures and dry conditions has already been a cause for concern, and the continuation of such weather patterns into early August only heightens these risks.
